Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all claimants across the Bay Area are being offered the option to conduct their disability hearing via telephone. Claimants have the right to object to the telephonic hearing, but this leads to an indefinite postponement of their hearing until it is safe for in-person hearings to take place. Although the interpersonal nature of in-person hearings are better than hearings by telephone, the hearing offices in the Bay Area are working hard to make the process as fair as possible in spite of the limitations.

Locating Your Hearing Office
If your case is currently pending at the hearing level, it’s important to know which hearing office has jurisdiction over your case. For example, if you live in Pittsburg, California or Antioch, California, your hearing office is located in downtown Oakland. If you live in Vallejo, your hearing office is located in San Rafael. If you live in Monterey or Santa Cruz Counties, your hearing office is in San Jose. To find your hearing office, visit the following website: https://www.ssa.gov/appeals/ho_locator.html
